The Division 5 side had a great win in their grand Final at Karingal yesterday defeating Mornington 84 shots to 65. While Hastings lead all day, Mornington came out strongly after the break to put a scare into the players and spectators when they closed within 10 with a few ends to play, However all rinks regained their composure and closed out the game in style winning by 19 shots. Playing on grass and the pressure of the final were well managed by all, with standout games measured by the calling out of player names by spectators for top shots. After missing out last year, Hastings are again the PBD/FBD Division 1 Champions for 2016/17. In a seesawing match, where Hastings were behind early in the match, but clawed their way back to be 9 shots in front at the break. Karingal then hit back hard and took the lead and looked like they were going to run away with the game, only to have Hastings steady and rally, eventually getting control running out winners 97 shots to 85. Hastings supporters were also in fine form, easily accounting for Karingal in numbers, noise and enthusiasm.
